Michaela
Le Compte was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She grew up on
the North shore in the seventies and became interested in cooking
during High School. After completing her HSC, Michaela embarked on a
4 year apprenticeship in commercial cookery beginning at Tony
Bilson's Fine Bouche in East Sydney and then moving on to Damien
Pignolet's Bistro Moncur in Woollarah. After completing her
apprenticeship, Michaela left Australia to travel and it was here
that her love affair with Europe began. She worked as a chef in the
quaint principality of Liechtenstein before heading around Europe
eating! The lure of Sydney and family beckoned he home where she took
up a sous chef position at Bistro Pave in North Sydney.
A yearning for a more creative field to
work in involving food led Michaela to Donna Hay and the world of
food styling and food for photography in the print media in 1998. It
was at one such shoot that she met her future husband,
photographer John Paul Urizar. Michaela quickly gained the
experience needed to make food styling her new career and her work
can now be seen in editorial magazines such as Gourmet Traveller and
Australian Good Taste, cookbooks such as Nove Cucina and advertising
campaigns for the Meat and Livestock corporation.
In April 2005 Michaela opened her own
stylist agency representing a select number of senior freelance food
stylists in the industry in advertising \ packaging and TV work. Her
passion and commitment to the industry extends to the stylist agency
and her ethos is to offer a professional and exceptional quality
service to any job she or one of her talent undertakes.
Michaela also writes recipes. Her
passion is for good food done well, an uncluttered and simplicity to
her recipes which is reflected in her approach to styling. Michaela currently resides in Sydney
with her husband and dog, Boots.
